Keynote
Chapters: Embracing Our Stories to Create Change
In his powerful keynote, Chapters, Matthew King takes audiences on a compelling journey through the power of storytelling, poetry, and personal experiences. As a first-generation college student, Matthew navigated the challenges of systemic barriers and personal hardships, using these experiences to fuel his growth, resilience, and leadership.
Through self-education and perseverance, he not only overcame these barriers but also transformed them into opportunities for change—most notably by founding the Everybody Eats Scholarship for students at his alma mater, Mt. Clemens High School, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 Black Lives Matter movement.
In this energizing and thought-provoking presentation, Matthew challenges audience members to examine their own journeys and recognize their potential as leaders in their communities. He provides practical strategies to overcome interpersonal and systemic obstacles, empowering individuals to use their voices, build resilience, and create a lasting impact.
